3. When Vietnamese people meet for the first time, they use “ Chào “ before the relevant personal pronoun.
They do not distinguish between morning, afternoon, or evening as in English.
Chào bà !
Chào ông Hai !
To show their respect to older people, one often adds “ ạ “ at the end of greeting.
Chào ông ạ!
Chào bà ạ!
4. Sentence pattern of asking and replying about health
Question : Anh ( chị, bà, ông….) khỏe không?
How are you?
Answer : Cám ơn anh ( chị, bà, ông….). Tôi khỏe

5. the Vietnamese people use their christian names with the title (Mr, Mrs, Miss….)
in addressing in both formal and informal situations.
They use their full names in formal situations only.
